Dozens of applications in 10 years of partnership with SLB

Systems were created with professionals working in the United States, France, and England.

Since 2014, SLB has relied on CWI to create solutions with Strategic Software Engineering. Operating in 120 countries with over 98,000 employees, our partner is the global technology leader in the energy industry, with a market value over US$ 60 billion.

The corporation, formerly known as Schlumberger, has been undergoing  a transformation in the last few years: from “the world’s largest oilfield services company to a global technology company focused on driving energy innovation for a balanced planet”*.

Throughout the partnership, we have developed dozens of applications, with professionals working in the United States, France, and England. Keep reading to discover 5 examples of systems used across different continents!

1. Audits made easier around the world

SLB audits in several parts of the world use an application developed in partnership with CWI professionals. The department responsible for these activities is based in Houston (USA).

The software is suitable for audits not only in oil platforms, but also in factories and work centers. Its features provide support in the process, determining the necessary actions, indicating regulations that need to be complied according to the region of the globe, automatic scheduling of audits, and displaying results.

Extremely important to SLB, the application is one of the largest within their ecosystem, and also a complex one. Besides the enormous amount of rules involved, it is necessary to make adjustments whenever a new law or regulation is created in different places on the planet.

In addition, it is a critical application in the overall operation. An oil platform can come to a standstill if a system like this stops working properly.

2. Our work for SLB’s largest division

Other applications built with CWI’s participation are used by the largest division in SLB, also based in Houston. This area of the company is responsible for the entire ecosystem of activities in oil wells.

Our employees already worked on the development of more than 20 applications for this division of the corporation. More recently, we have collaborated with the creation of a system that is connected to the capture and tracking of CapEx (Capital Expenditure) funds.

This software now centralizes business rules and gives visibility about requests made by all headquarters, at all types of granularity. Because of that, it has a fundamental part in assisting SLB’s leadership in decision-making processes, as it provides a full view of the investments in only one channel.

Thank you for your valued partnership and the exceptional projects you have successfully delivered. Your unwavering support and the remarkable level of professionalism demonstrated by your team have been instrumental in our collaborative achievements. We deeply appreciate your commitment to excellence and look forward to continuing our successful journey together.

3. Competency assurance system

  • The challenge: to monitor the immense number of skills and competencies of SLB employees.
  • The main goal of the application is to make sure, in a simple way, that the right person goes to the right job, giving the employee visibility on the path that will take them to the next level of their evolution within the company.
  • The tool allows the employees to keep track of the levels of competencies they already have (from basic to specialist) and the deadlines for tests and training they need to complete.
  • With the platform, leaders have easy access to updates on their teams’ evolution.
  • CWI was also responsible for the application’s video tutorial, which was highly praised internally.

Another example of an application developed during the partnership between CWI and SLB is used by C-levels from the London headquarters, in England. The software presents a complex set of management dashboards with different types of data, supporting decision-making.

On the other hand, the office in France counts on CWI with an application that makes the supplier’s payment process easier. The communication with these partners is controlled through the system, helping to organize the outflow of financial resources.
