Here, the two-decade partnership with CWI has significantly contributed to the evolution of the institution’s technology solutions — so much that we are expanding our services to three Latin American countries.

A comprehensive platform for financing workflow

Created by CWI engineers in collaboration with the DLL team, the NEO platform is the environment where the bank manages both the credit granting workflow and operations workflow. The application is used by internal employees as well as commercial partners, such as stores and manufacturers.

CWI has been involved with the project since its inception in 2018. Our Strategic Software Engineering team participated in the conception and execution of the solution. Currently, we continue to work on strategic developments, focusing on expanding the range of services, convenience, and innovation.

In an increasingly competitive market, the initial challenge was to provide partners with a new experience, not just a new platform in terms of technology and architecture. This gave birth to the NEO platform, which introduces a fresh approach to business processes and consolidates various functionalities of the financing process.

One of them is the integration with services for digital signatures and electronic contract registration. Essential to maintain operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, this innovation in the platform has been a significant differentiator for DLL. Today, the application also integrates with platforms that facilitate Public Consultation on Embargoes and Environmental Infringements by IBAMA, as well as with the Employer Registry (known as the “dirty list” for combating slave labor).

Integration with BNDES: improvement in response time

The integration with the BNDES Online system is another standout feature of the NEO platform. Pioneering in offering financing from various funding sources, DLL already provided this service back in 2019.

The solution has improved response times for quotations, contracting, and release of financing resources. This is a market where the speed of response directly influences acquiring new clients — therefore, having technology that enables faster action makes all the difference.

Previously, the process of making resources available through BNDES typically took around 30 days. Currently, the platform allows operations to be contracted in this mode within two days.

Safety first: strategies used in CWI’s development for DLL

Sonar Cloud: A SAST solution providing code review for technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, C++, Ruby, and Kotlin, with integration into DevOps platforms.
OWASP Dependency-Check: Used to identify known vulnerable components in applications and their dependent libraries.
OWASP ZAP: The Zed Attack Proxy (ZAP), a DAST solution, acts as a proxy between the tester’s browser and the web application, inspecting messages and, if necessary, modifying content before forwarding packets to the destination. The use of this proxy at DLL was suggested by CWI.

Internationalization

Following the success of the NEO platform in Brazil, CWI was invited to develop a similar solution for operation in Mexico and two other Latin American countries. The process of enhancing the customer journey in Mexico, divided into 3 stages, has completed 2 of them.

Cultural differences posed a challenge, but CWI has experience in serving international contexts. Stages of ideation, brainstorming, and prototyping, with the involvement of the local IT team, were essential for the solution’s success in Mexico.

Gradual and healthy evolution

During the development of the NEO platform, we adopted the software strangulation pattern. Deliveries were based on business flow priorities, generating incremental value with lower financial and operational risk.

Modernization began with demands related to CDC lines, gradually absorbing all bank operations thereafter. This approach allowed the delivered outcome to be validated more effectively, with a set of controlled risks and greater adaptability to business priorities.
